4132314 (ES/FR)

4132314 is a show inspired by sonority and the dressmaking patterns from the old textile industries, just like the memories of their female workers and their singing.

A creation that celebrates collective work, solidarity, sorority and the chanting in the daily life.

Barcelonians Tarta Relena, the Galician-Catalan duet Los Sara Fontan and the Occitan Cocanha have come together for a very first time as a sextet to investigate, compose and perform live an hour of this new creation on the basis of numerical patterns from the textile industry, old working songs, mechanical sounds and industrial testimony stories.

The process was brewed and developed in Fabra y Coats, one of the most important factories in Catalonia, now converted into a factory for creation. Tarta Relena, Cocanha and Los Sara Fontan explore at the same time, the dialogue within their professions and those connected to textile, two forms of inhabiting the same space in different times.

To reinterpret the working songs from female textile workers, comes from the desire to keep this thread of memory of a popular culture which is rich and little known at the same time. To translate the numerical patterns from textile manufacturing into musical compositions, comes from the desire to find the memory of a thread: the internal code that sets the rhythm – repetitive and precise – of the collective work.

This show brings together for a first time three duets that share the eagerness to innovate and rethinking: Tarta Relena have shaken the folk universe with a thorough and contemporary reinterpretation of the Mediterranean singing; Cocanha have placed themselves at the head of a movement that aims to restore Occitan culture, modernizing it with a present-day and feminist vision; Los Sara Fontan take a classical instrument like a violin into unprecedented experimentation rates, exploring all kinds of styles and using them in pieces of poetry, dance, museum installations or soundtracks.

Voice and rhythm are the central figures of a staging that starts from simple units but, in sum, makes a complex, energetic and delicate sound wave. A celebration of working in community, of sorority and of the chanting past beyond stages: the collective singing in the day-to-day life, to keep in step with working movements, to feel accompanied, or to escape from everything and everyone.
