Founded in 2002, Orquestra Imperial is a powerhouse collective that brings together some of the most influential and versatile artists of contemporary Brazilian music. Conceived as a modern gafieira orchestra, the band merges deep respect for tradition with bold, inventive arrangements, creating a sound that is both timeless and unmistakably current.

At its core is an exceptional lineup of musicians, singers, composers, and producers whose individual careers span MPB, samba, pop, soul, rock, and experimental music. The orchestra features artists such as Moreno Veloso, known for his refined songwriting and production work; Thalma de Freitas, whose powerful voice and magnetic stage presence bridge soul, samba, and jazz; Rodrigo Amarante, celebrated for his poetic compositions and international career; and Kassin, a key figure in shaping Brazil’s contemporary independent sound.

Alongside Nina Becker, Emanuelle Araújo, and Matheus VK on vocals, Orquestra Imperial assembles a true dream team of rotating musicians: Berna Ceppas (keyboards and effects), Pedro Sá (guitar), Felipe Pinaud (arrangements, guitar, and flute), Rubinho Jacobina (piano and vocals), Marcelo Callado and Domenico Lancellotti (drums), Marlon Sette, Bidu Cordeiro, and Mauro Zacharias (trombones), Diogo Gomes (trumpet), Leo Monteiro (electronic percussion), and Leo Reis (percussion), among others.

This rare concentration of talent allows Orquestra Imperial to operate simultaneously as a big band, a vocal ensemble, and a creative laboratory. Each performance is fueled by collective energy, strong artistic identities, and constant musical dialogue—resulting in shows that are exuberant, danceable, and deeply expressive.

Over the years, Orquestra Imperial has become a reference in Brazil’s cultural scene, acclaimed for transforming classic repertoires and original material into exuberant “baile-shows” that celebrate musical diversity, collaboration, and joy. Whether revisiting Brazilian songbook icons or igniting the dance floor with its signature gafieira swing, the orchestra delivers performances powered by virtuosity, charisma, and artistic freedom.
