After seven years of unstoppable activity on all kinds of stages, Seward has crafted a vibrating sonic manifesto, drawing upon the multiple dimensions of their free song and apotropaic performances. WE PREFER TO has been produced by Scott Solter (St. Vincent, Two Gallants, Dirty Projector) and Matt Pence (Midlake, John Gran), recorded at The Echo Lab in Denton, Texas, and mastered by Carlos Freitas (Sepultura, Omara Portuondo, Caetano Veloso). Uncut Magazine describes their play “combustible avant-folk anarchy”. Kristian Davis-Downs from Beggars Group [XL-Matador-4AD-Rough Trade] confessed: “15 years’ experience of working in the music industry didn’t prepare me for the oncoming storm that is Seward, without doubt, one of the most exciting live acts that I’ve ever had the pleasure to see perform”. Traditional percussion and experimental broken drums, a distorted banjo with effects, a voice with many characters, electric guitars, manipulated speeches and samplers, upright bass, horns of all types played through pedals.
“Combustible avant-folk anarchy from Catalonia. Miles off the mainstream musical map, Barcelona quartet Seward make a ragged and impassioned racket that borders on outsider art”. – Uncut Magazine
